Preparing your flooring
The first step is to remove all furniture from the room you’re painting... Then the prep work can begin.
If your floor has been painted before, use something as coarse as a wire brush to remove any remnants of the last coat that may be loose or flaking, as well as this, you should fill any small cracks, larger joints or holes in wood.
Once that has been done, you can begin to sand the floor. It’s recommended to use an electric sander for speed, or if your space is larger, you should hire a disc sander which will help you to get the job done a lot faster, as well as it being a little easier on your back.
Top tip: Don’t forget to sand right up to the skirting boards! If you miss the edges, it will be noticeable!
After sanding, you need to clean the floor. Ideally, you should vacuum the floor to remove as much dust as possible before you can begin painting the floor.
